COR LITJENS is a Dutch sculptor. Large, monumental sculpture and small, detailed objects, more often than not cast in bronze; on occasion in combination
with natural stone. Characteristic of his work is the use of elements
and shapes from the landscape, nature and monumental architecture. The
objects are the images of mountains, houses, gates, trees, bridges and
squares. But also cliffs, shores, rivers, inner courts, islands and complete
cities. Sometimes these elements and shapes are nothing but abstract images,
separated as they are from their original surroundings. Sometimes, however,
they have been shaped into concrete, figurative sculptures.
